Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank Packs 5000mAh Into Just 6mm

Power banks are easy to appreciate until you have to carry one every day. Most 5000mAh magnetic models still add a noticeable block to the back of a phone, but Xiaomi is trying to make that extra battery feel much less intrusive. The Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 is only 6mm thick and weighs 98g, while still carrying a 5000mAh battery. To put 6mm into perspective, that is roughly the thickness of about eight standard bank cards stacked together. It is still larger than a bank card in overall size, but the thin body is what makes it stand out. Xiaomi uses a silicon-carbon battery to fit that capacity into such a slim frame, making the main idea of this power bank simple: give you useful backup power without making your phone feel much thicker.

That thin design matters most once the power bank is actually attached to a phone. A normal magnetic battery can make a phone feel like two devices stacked together, especially when typing, taking photos, making calls, or putting it into a pocket. At 6mm, the Xiaomi sits much closer to the back of the phone and adds less bulk around your hand. The 98g weight is still noticeable, but it is light enough that using the phone while charging should feel more natural than with many thicker battery packs. This is really where the UltraThin makes the most sense. Its biggest feature is not simply being small on a specification sheet, but making it easier to keep the power bank attached while you continue using the phone normally.

The next question is how useful 5000mAh actually is. It should not be treated as a guaranteed full recharge for every phone, because some energy is always lost during charging, especially when using wireless charging. Xiaomi lists a 5000mAh typical battery capacity, while the rated output capacity is lower after voltage conversion. In real use, the amount of battery you gain will depend on your phone, whether you use wired or wireless charging, and whether you continue using the phone while it charges. This makes the UltraThin better suited to getting you through the rest of the day rather than replacing a much larger 10000mAh or 20000mAh power bank. For most people, the more useful question is not whether it can give exactly one full charge, but whether it can add enough battery to get from a low percentage to the end of the day without needing a wall outlet.

You are also not limited to magnetic charging. The power bank has a USB-C port for both input and output, with wired charging reaching up to 22.5W. Wireless charging can reach up to 15W on supported devices, while iPhones are limited to lower wireless speeds with this model. That means the magnetic side is best when convenience matters, while USB-C is the better option when you want to charge faster or use it with a device that does not support magnetic wireless charging. It can also be used with smaller devices such as earbuds and other low-power accessories. In practice, this makes it more flexible than the design first suggests. You can keep it attached to your phone during a commute, connect a cable when you need faster charging, or use it like a normal compact power bank for other devices.

Compatibility is also worth checking before buying. Phones with built-in magnetic alignment can attach directly, while other phones may need a magnetic case or ring. Thick cases can weaken the connection, and very large camera bumps can sometimes stop the power bank from sitting flat against the phone. That is why the 6mm body is important beyond just looks. A thinner battery has less chance of getting in the way of your grip, camera use, or pocket space. The Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 is not trying to give you the most battery possible. Its value comes from making 5000mAh easier to carry every day. If a larger power bank usually stays at home because it is too bulky, a battery this thin may end up being more useful simply because you are more likely to bring it with you.
